The IDE Drone Racing Cup 2016 winners!
The first annual IDE Drone Racing Cup was a tremendous success. The drone race was the hit of the International Drone Expo and attracted huge crowds and vast media attention.
Drone pilots battled each other on an extremely tight and technical course, with multiple gates and a huge structure to handle.
53 of the world’s top drone racers competed, with pilots flying in from across the United States to compete.
Take a look at FlyingBear’s winning race here –
Head to head racing with James the Ripper in the final race today at 2016 IDE. It was an epic battle until we mid aired after gate 2 on the second lap. I finished seven laps after this to take the win, but would prefer to compete with James for an entire race! Good flying man. #fpv #dronestagram #crash #midair #airvuz #lumenier #gopro #qav210 #multigp #droneracing
Ken traveled from San Francisco for the race. Stay tuned for our exclusive interview with him coming soon!
Placing second was up and coming racer Ashton “Drobot Racer” Gamble. Ashton is just eleven years old! Be sure to follow him – he is definitely a name to watch.
In addition to the main race, there was a special Connex Cup race for pilots using ProSight.
Here, Bapu “Bapu FPV” Madhu was the winner.
Jamie “BluJay_fpv” Bohn took second place in her first ever race. Jamie was also the only female pilot competing in the Cup.
Third place was awarded to Austin “The Kraken” Gossard.
Congratulations to the IDE Drone Racing Cup 2016 winners, and a huge shout out to all the pilots that took part. You had to be brave and talented to even attempt this course!
And thank you to the International Drone Expo for allowing us to put on one of the very few legal LA drone races.
