Los Angeles – dust off your drones and get ready to race.
Residents of Los Angeles have long had difficulty in securing places to fly given the areas extremely strict laws surrounding the use of drones.
Regulations around FPV are particularly strict, which has resulted in drone racing largely being pushed to neighboring counties.
Drone racing does happen in LA but its usually discreet and hidden away. Practice and races often take place late at night in underground parking lots (hey, is the drone racing scene the new rave scene?).
So we in the drone community say a big “thank you” to the International Drone Expo for turning things around and bringing drone racing to the heart of LA.
This year, the International Drone Expo (IDE) is holding its first annual drone racing event. Racers will compete for
“The IDE Drone Racing Cup”. Plus, attendees will be wowed by some crazy freestyle flying.
Happening during IDE in December, the event will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Drone races are always exciting, but as one of only a handful of races happening in LA – and with huge media attention – this is one to make sure you are part of.
The International Drone Expo takes place December 9 and 10. Get your tickets now!
The IDE is made up of a two day conference where a host of drone experts will share their knowledge. Alternatively, you can just go to the Expo and be wowed by the drones. Pricing is reasonable and there are early bird discounts for booking by October 14.
The conference line up is very cool this year, with something for everyone and a host of big names.
Keynotes include Louis Stewart, of the State of California’s Governor’s Office of Economic Development, and Wahid Nawabi, Chief Executive Officer and President of Aerovironment.
We will tell you more about IDE very soon but highly recommend checking it out and getting those early bird discounts now!
